|About Kristin Anderson, Psy.D., L.P., NCSP

Dr. Anderson is a licensed psychologist and certified school
psychologist in South Carolina. A native of upstate New York, Dr.
Anderson received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a
minor in Human Development from the State University of New York at
Geneseo. She went on to earn her Master of Science degree in
Educational Psychology and Methodology, Certificate of Advanced
Study in School Psychology, and Doctor of Psychology in School
Psychology from the University at Albany, State University of New York. During her
tenure in the doctoral program, Dr. Anderson completed practicum experiences in
elementary, middle and high schools and a residential facility for adults with
developmental delays and cognitive impairments. Her American Psychological
Association (APA) accredited pre-doctoral internship was completed through the
Nebraska Internship Consortium in Professional Psychology at Boys Town in Boys
Town, Nebraska. There she obtained experience working with adolescent females in a
residential program with a focus on therapeutic interventions in the home and school
settings. Following completion of her doctoral degree program, Dr. Anderson moved to
Georgia where she completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the Savannah Child Study
Center in Savannah, GA where she conducted individual and group therapy,
psychological evaluations, and parent consultation/training for clients ages 2 to 22.
After earning her license to practice psychology in Georgia, Dr. Anderson practiced as
a staff psychologist for 2 years before taking a position as a school psychologist in the
Beaufort County Schools. Dr. Anderson currently works full-time as a school
psychologist and sees clients on a part-time basis at Psychological & Counseling
Associates of the Lowcountry, LLC.
Dr. Anderson’s primary therapeutic focus is working with children, adolescents, and
parents to assist with behavioral difficulties, poor emotional regulation, social skill
deficits, learning problems, and adjustment difficulties. In her therapeutic work with child
and adolescent clients, Dr. Anderson utilizes cognitive behavioral and solution focused
techniques. As an adjunct to her therapeutic work with children and adolescents, Dr.
Anderson also works with parents to provide psycho-education, assist with
communication and improve parenting skills related to a child or adolescent’s presenting
difficulties. Dr. Anderson also sees clients (children and adults) for psychological
evaluations in order to make diagnoses and recommendations to inform treatment.
Evaluations may utilize intellectual, psycho-educational, adaptive, behavioral and
neuropsychological components to make diagnoses of learning disorders, ADHD and
other disruptive behavior disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorders, mood disorders,
anxiety disorders, and adjustment disorders.
On a more personal note, Dr. Anderson currently lives in Bluffton with her husband. She
enjoys traveling, reading, spending time with family and friends, and enjoying our
beautiful local beaches.
