human development, cultural diversity and literacy.

In addition to private practice she has been a social worker for the military and for a
large hospital system. She has the tools to help in a wide variety of situations.  Her
background includes psychotherapy with individuals and couples; working with
victims of sexual assault and domestic violence; grief, loss and bereavement
counseling; and helping those diagnosed with a chronic illness.  Susan has been a
clinical social worker for 20+ years.  Her clients benefit from these years of
experience as she learned to listen without judgment and engage her clients with
warmth and compassion as she begins to understand and help them problem solve
to create lasting change.

“I enjoy working with adults of all ages in individual or couples counseling.  I can help
you find your way through depression, anxiety, illness, disability, loss, grief and
trauma. Counseling will help with any adjustment. Change is difficult whether it is
living on your own for the first time, relocating to a new area, making a career move,
getting married, getting divorced, or retiring.  The physical and mental health
changes that occur with aging are particularly challenging.  I believe that the
therapeutic relationship is of utmost importance and want you to feel safe to share
and explore your life.   I can help you identify your principles, values, and passions to
discover your own unique purpose and help you lead a healthy, balanced and
successful life.”

Susan has a BA in Psychology from Avila University and she received her Master
of Social Work from Kansas University in 1997.

Susan lives on Hilton Head Island with her husband, Philip, and their dog Betsy
Grace.  She is living a healthy and balanced life.  Susan and her husband can be
seen around the island biking or kayaking, and she has an extensive collection of
shark’s teeth!
